Im not sure if this is the right board for this type of questions(s) but i apologize if it isnt so bare with me. I plan on getting into streaming. I would like to stream what i play on xbox one but im not sure what type of set up i would need. I know id need an elgato.. Not sure what the streaming pc would need spec wise, im not good with that stuff. Would i need any software in order to stream? Obs? DX tori?

If you run windows 10 and want to stream your xbox this is possible with the built in xbox app on windows 10. It lets you stream whatever is happening on the xbox to your computer. Also has twitch broadcasting built in if I'm not mistaken. However, if you are planning on having lower thirds or a webcam overlay, you will need to use some extra software like obs or whatever. I don't have any XP with those so someone else will chime in.

When in doubt, re-format.

My xbox wont let me use the twitch app to stream for whatever reason. I have a laptop with windows 10 though, would it be possible to stream with that? Could you explain how?

Open up the xbox app on your laptop and connect it to your xbox (make sure you're on the same network).

I'm not at home so I can't test it out exactly right now, but I seemed to recall Twitch broadcasting being built into the app. If not, you will need to use OBS or the like to capture/stream the xbox app.

When in doubt, re-format.
