980ti or 1070.

Go to solution Solved by ForsakenLive,

I'd say 1070. Why?

Leaving aside the new features Pascal brings and the reduced power consumption, I'd say get the 1070 because the long term performance will be better.

The 700 series (kepler) got forgotten regarding driver updates. Don't get me wrong, the GPUs still work as intended, but they haven't been receiving performance boosts, while on the other hand, the GTX 970 (as well as the entire 900 series) did get its performance increased even on drivers released a month ago.

However I don't expect the 900 series to continue to get "free power ups" now that pascal is here, Nvidia will focus on the new GPUs and the performance gap between 980ti and 1070 will get larger in MY opinion.

I live in the UK where tax and shipping increases prices of certain products.

I want to get a powerful GPU for 1440p gaming.

In the UK, the cheapest 980ti is about £350 while the cheapest 1070 is £400 on average.

I want to save as much money as possible so I was wondering which one to get.

Is the 980ti worth getting over the 1070 due to the lower price?

get a 1060 or RX480 when you dont play at 4k these cards will do fine in 1440p otherwise when you really want that power get a 1070 in my opinion

1060 and 480 are not made for 1440p res. If the diffrence is only 50£ then i would go for 1070, but if you want to save that 980ti isnt a bad choice and can run 1440p games, like 1070.
