So I've been lurking on the forums and enjoying looking at other peoples build, whether they were totally customize or just a plain build, so I thought I would share my own upgrade.

The upgrade is set to replace my 7 year old build which as been faithful to me through thick and thin. To get an idea of what I'm coming from, these are the specs: i7 920 @ 4,0 Ghz ; 2x Gainward GTX 660 (Non-TI) ; 6 GB DDR3 1866 MHz.

These are the specs of my new build:

  • Motherboard: MSI Z170A Gaming M7
  • CPU: Intel i7 6700k
  • CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer 240 (AIO Liquid cooler)
  • GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8GB
  • RAM: G.Skill TridentZ DDR4-3200 16GB
  • PSU: Corsair RM550x
  • Case: Corsair 400Q
  • OS Drive: Samsung 750 EVO SSD - 250GB
  • SSD Storage Drive: Samsung 840 EVO SSD - 250GB (Transferred from old build)
  • HDD Storage Drive: Some Seagate 1.5 TB 7200 RPM drive I had lying around

Now at this point I would have loved to show you some super smexy pictures of the build however the only camera I has access to at the moment is the one in my smartphone so it would have to suffice:

Overall, I'm super stoked about the build. It's incredible to see how far hardware has advanced. The noise level of my old build would compare to a small vacuum cleaner (not quite but still.. :) ) yet this remains silent even while under load and gaming. I think it ended up super clean with regards to the colors; the graphics card, motherboard and RAM goes well together. Even though I don't care to much about the aesthetics as I don't have a windowed sidepanel, it is still oddly satisfying that things somewhat matches.
