1060 vs rx 480

M9shaboi

as you guys have seen in the benchmarks the 1060 wins in every game that youtubers has tested between the 1060 and rx 480

i saw on tech and tomorrow that he tested few games on dx12 and 1060 beated the rx 480 with few fps, here in sweden both cards costs the same so in my country there isn't really price value thing but in other countries there is, so as people say rx 480 better value but 1060 is faster and better,

so i thought about this  there's been rumors as all have heard that aftermarket rx 480 will hit 1600mhz on its cores and im suprised because its 400mhz diffrence so do you guys think that the aftermarket rx 480 will beat the 1060 EVGA SC that boosts to 1800mhz? give me some thoughts what you think

I doubt aftermarket 480 will do 1600mhz, probably 1500mhz at best.

If they're the same price, get a 1060. If you want to wait a while for a performance boost, get an RX 480.

Do RX480s have better scaling with overclocking? What do you mean exactly?

i will go for the RX480 and save for another one ... would love to do the same with the 1060 but nope ...

I would wait for the final benchmarks. The 1060 seems to be also a great overclocker (up to 2Ghz as Nvidia claims)..

He is talking about dx12 and how the rx 480 performs better in dx12. In terms of overclocking compared to the 1060 the 480 isn't that good.

Driver updates and such will lead to much better performance, like with the 700 series vs. the 200 series.

But i feel like the rx 480 is a safe bet becaue the AMD has the lead in the DX12 apparently idk what to think anymore

Assuming AMD's initial drivers are bad then yes. But only time will tell how everything stacks up in the long run

@M9shaboi If the price is the same then 1060, it will outperform the 480

I wouldn't recommend sli of either the 480 or the 1060 anyway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why that 2 way should be fine with full DX12 support.

As a Nvidia user i am so angry about the prices of the 1060. I realy wanted for the 1060 to be better than the rx 480 and seeing the reviews it was until i saw the prices. Aftermarket 1060 by Asus 389, Msi 359, gigabyte 379 , the gtx 970 asus 414, msi 389, gigabyte, 339 (all in euros), i might aswell get 150 euros more and by the 1070, worse is that so far in my country there is no aftermarket rx 480 despite of been release sooner that the 1060, the price that they have is 299 amd version. A a Nvidia user for many years i might have to go amd.

1060 beats the 480, by some margin, in 90% of the games. But also note that even though the 480 and 1060 boost to their respective maximum clocks, with the 1060 having higher clocks, their performances are same, this in itself shows, poor scaling of pascal.

Price-to-perf, the 4gb 480 beats the 1060 and even the 8gb one should too.

lol what?!

no...the rumors were that ONE overclocker managed to get his RX480 to 1600mhz...not that the 3rd party cards will ship with such crazy high clockspeed or anything like that WTF...it will be NOWHERE near that.

I'm now playing the waiting game , with the 1060 release in Australia i can get an MSI GeForce GTX1060 Gaming X or the  Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming G1 for @ $500Au from the seller i usually buy gear from , were as the RX 480s are running from $320~$450 Au but they are reference cards, i waiting on the non reference RX480 cards to see how they will perform

1060 is nice, but  no sli capability

rx480 is, i take it crossfire capability

arhhhh

its last thing i need to upgrade in my game rig

(lol was filling out reply but in the wrong post )

but applies to both i guess

If it's that bad in your country, you could just buy from another EU country.

What are you talking about?  Zero RX-480 in reviewers hand actually hit 1266mhz. :P
And the 1060 boost to 1800mhz+ out of the box.
