Upgrading PC(SOLVED)

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

generally speaking, if you dont know what to upgrade, its usually because your system still suffices, and at that point it may be best to just save that money for now :P

if you want your system to feel fresh, give it a good cleaning. chances are it needs that more than it needs new hardware.

EDIT: cannot ignore the similarities between your build and mine :P

I don't really like my 970. it spits and sputters when that faux4 gigs of vram runs out. I also don't think the graphics looks as good as it should. going back to AMD. ( the only reason I purchased it was to run a few physx maps. THAT, it did okay ) ( that and it's getting harder to find cards that will run on Vista ).,

I don't really see anything that needs upgrading. Maybe get off the 970 if you're desperate for it. get a 1070 or 1080 if you're looking for a serious boost. get a 1060 in a few weeks if you just want to up the performance a tad. Your current hardware looks fine for 1080p gaming.

dude.. seriously.. why even?

all respect for your personal preferences, but with a 970 you're basicly hooking up the best gardena garden hose on the market to a crusty tap that doesnt open more than 50% anymore/

your bottleneck at the moment id say would just be the OS, upgrade from windows vista, youll see much better performance. + maybe treat yourself to a new monitor, alway a great thing

- SSUPD Meshlicous - Z170I - i7-6700K - Gigabyte 2080 - 16GB Corsair Vengance - 850 EVO 1TB - H115i ICUE Link- SF600

There's not really a good enough reason to upgrade that system performance-wise. If you just want to make it look a bit different, get an ITX motherboard for the i7-4790K (or 4970 :) ) and put it in a Corsair 250D case. The 250D accepts standard components including the GTX-970 and an ATX power supply.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD
