Good afternoon!

Ok, so I watched the "2 gaming rigs, 1 tower" video and I had a question...

I'm a teacher and want to build a kick butt machine for my classroom. It would be out of my own pocket, so I'm definitely looking for good value, but I need to keep it capable so that I can take advantage of stuff like VR (I have a DK2 rift and will buy another system at some point in the next year) and also video editing (the computers the school board buys are insanely overpriced and under-performing). I'm hoping some of you may have some suggestions and might even be able to offer some guidance as I'm very computer capable, but haven't built anything running multiple operating systems before.

With the relatively low cost of the RX 480, I was wondering if it was possible to setup a few different boot options. In my mind, the ideal setup has dual GPUs, then you can boot into either running 1 OS that uses both cards (SLI or crossfire) or...boot into 2 OS's, each using one of the cards. This would, for a relatively small cost increase, basically double the usefulness of this machine, and would offer a very high performance option when booting into dual GPU mode.

I haven't settled on the RX480, it just seems the most realistically priced for what I can afford.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Linus Tech should totally sponsor a build like this ;-) Think of all the young people you could brainwash...I mean, educate!

If you haven't seen it, here's the video which kickstarted this idea:

Id suggest you stay away from vm based system. Its not much cheaper, requires lots of extra fiddling and can just be a pain.

You could dual boot like that, but its a pain. Id probably just get anouter dell optiplex and put a gpu in it. The reason why those systems schools use cost more is becasue they have better support(3 year onsite) and have better administration(active directory).

If you really want to do this.

1. Id probably go nvidia as there is better support when running in vms. Id probably go 1060 ro
