So I got a email from EVGA for 15% off any dual BIOS cards.

So I was considering buying the EVGA GTX 780 Classified Hydro Copper. It comes out to around $710 or so after shipping (Not sure if they charge tax). It's originally $829.99 so it's a pretty big discount.

Question is, is it worth replacing my two EVGA GTX 670 FTW+ 4GB cards for a single GTX 780 Classified Hydro Copper 3GB card?

Also, how well can the Classified overclock? Is it like most overclocked cards where you don't have much room to push them further or can you push the Classified cards further than most cards?

I know people didn't like the Classified 680's because you couldn't push them very far so I don't know if the same applies.

I'd like to get close to the performance I have now without dealing with SLI. I'm gaming at 1440p so I need a lot of power for some games.

This is a tempting deal because I could sell both my cards with the blocks for about the same price so it wouldn't cost me much or anything to do it.

Thoughts?

I believe Hydro copper means a card with a waterblock. So you will need to watercool it also...

Ugh, I already said I had blocks for my 670's. So that implies I'm already watercooling lol.

I don't think it's worth it and I'd rather get a reference 780 with an aftermarket waterblock.

Your 670s are still good.

Well a reference 780 and aftermarket water block would probably end up costing more since I'd have to pay full price for the block.

Not a problem. I know you have to tell people because it does happen.

So do you think it's worth doing?

I'm just concerned it wont have enough power for 1440p.

I'm pretty sure a stock 780 can easily push Ultra settings on 1440p around 50+ FPS. So go for it if you want! Best if you check some benchmarks though for a non-hydrocopper 780 to see how it performs though. You probably won't get the same performance as both your 670s but it does give you room to add a second card later if you wish.

Yeah I've checked most of the benchmarks out and it's neck and neck with the Titan which is pretty impressive considering how much overclocking room is left on the card.

Right now my 670's are stock since one of the cards overclocks bad and it constantly crashes in game. I'm guessing I could get pretty close to the same performance as my 670's when a little overclocking.

Biggest thing for me is having just a beast card that works in every game. Having the power of 2 cards is only good when it works and that's not always the case.

I think right now I'm done with mutil GPUs. It was fun while it lasted but I'm tired of dealing with it. Everytime I buy a new game and it doesn't use my second card I just get a little more mad.
