A PCI(?) card that allows you to create non-volatile storage with RAM that doesn't use your system RAM.

Like the board itself says, this is a ramdisk PCI card (not PCIe).

You can plug in DDR (gen. 1) ram-sticks into this thing and use them as a really fast drive.

But its outdated, since it is only for gen 1 ddr ram and for old school PCI slots.

 

The black thing on the right is a lithium-battery to keep the ram powered even when the pc is turned off.

So it mean that if you put any gen RAM in there it would convert it in fast hard drive like a SSD? So if you put 16gb of ram you get an extra 16gb of ssd?

Only DDR. It would create it's own SSD.
