Not sure what the issue would be here @colonel_mortis, but starting today punctuation in user names is showing up in my notifications drop down as various symbol combinations.

It's not starting today, and it was reported to the devs ages ago. It only happens with certain types of notification (comments rather than quotes), but there's nothing we can do about it, and fixing it is probably going to require some fairly considerable refactoring by the devs, so it might take a while before it's fixed.
