Microphone not working?

So I just finished downloading drivers and wanted to chat with friends thru discord when I discovered my mic wasn't working. (Pls dont hate) I am currently using a set of apple earbuds because they have a mic and I don't have a different mic. Whenever I plug my mic in Realtek asks me what I just plugged in, and I select mic (i want audio to still come from speakers). I then close the window. The computer seems to recognize when it gets unplugged but doesn't actually get audio from it or something. Can anyone help?

The mic on them actually won't work because it only recognizes one device.

But it worked before.. Is there anything I can do to use both speakers and earbud mic?

I tried this stuff last year and did not find a way. Sorry.

Agh  So I guess it's either earbuds only or no mic?

The thing about in-line mics is they don't work if your pc only accepts split audio out/in. you can buy a splitter but even then the mic quality is sh** (i have one)
