I don't know if a desk is really a peripheral if it is not please tell me where to post. I want to put led strips under my desk to match my pc lights as well as my keyboard so multi color strips would be needed but, i have no idea which ones to use or how i would even install them. This is my desk if it help http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10251352/

Thanks :D.

Your best option would probably to get LED strips like these online that are power separately from a power adapter, it would let you change colors and lighting modes via a remote control:

This is pretty much what I did with my setup :) Very effective.

I just brought a few USB led strips off Amazon and attached them to the backside of my desk to light up the wall with a glow and connected it into the back of my PC. Because of the voltage I got, the LEDs turn off when the PC turns off which is perfect for what I need.

I think Linus did a video on USB LED strips at one point explaining about the different voltages to go for (it was actually for lighting up your IO shield).

Mine were not RGB, simply RED, but I'm sure you could find something.

Thanks for the answers they really helped but how would i install them do they come with tape because in my experience any tape that comes with led strips sucks.

Yes usually they all come with tape but are usually subpar, I would recommend to replace it with 3M Exterior Mounting tape, it works really well for applications like this and doens't let go:
