Limit GPU usage while folding

Hi guys,

 

I started folding recently and I wonder if it is possible to limit the GPU usage when my system is folding.

 

The issue here is that I have two GTX 260 Core 216 and they get really loud when at full load but if they stay at 50-75% usage, they stay somewhat quiet.

The only way I found yet was to underclock them massively when I'm not gaming to be sure they stay as cool (quiet) as possible.

As of now it is either full on GPU folding or nothing. It might change later on.

Just been checking my 260 sp216 55nm [folding as we speak] it gets to 66*c @65% fan speed @620mhz core and 1100 memory and its not really loud till you get to 60% fan speed (same cooler as my gtx285 btw).

id say strip them and give them a really good clean and thermal paste (the good stuff), test the temps (testing your paste job) and set custom fan profiles, id try 30% at 30 degrees' C, 40% at 50 degree's C and have a straight line to 70% at 70 degree's C and a final notch at 100% at 80 degree's C (colder temps=longer life PLUS if it gets dusty itll probably blow its dust out if it ever gets that hot....) at low usage itll still be nice and quiet.
