I am not joking around here... but have you tried giving your modem/router a full power cycle?

I have had the problem with a couple of ISP provided routers.

Motherboard: MSI X99A Sli Plus,       RAM: Corsair CMK32GX4M4A2400C14 Vengeance LPX (32GB),
CPU: Intel i7-5820K,      GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960,       PSU: Corsair Gaming Series GS600,
HDDs: 2x Toshiba P300 1TB 64MB 7200RPM,      SSD: Crucial BX200 240GB
All inside a Corsair Carbide 300R with a Corsair CW-9060007-WW Hydro Series H60.

Have a good day everyone!

I would try a different cable if you haven't already. Also, if your router and modem are separate devices, I would try bypassing the router and plug your computer directly into the modem to see how well that works.

Definitely update your drivers before though since that is the least involved troubleshooting step.

When in doubt, re-format.

Before I try that I have a question, chrome is really slow at downloading stuff but when I download stuff for Steam it's fine is there a reason that is? Also my lan drivers are update to date and one more thing, it was fine on my old computer but when I upgraded it just went to crap.

Do you, by any chance, have some sort of proxy extension or vpn extension installed in your browser?

And to be clear - your PC is the only one that has this issue, the other clients on the network get the proper speed? :)

If chrome is being poopy but other things are fine, try some other browsers and see if they are also being slow. as the poster above me said, make sure you don't have any extensions enabled in chrome that mess with your connection.

When in doubt, re-format.

the 1Gpbs speed just means the speed that your computer is connected to the router to, not the actual speed that you are receiving to the internet.

What results do you get with firefox or IE/edge with speedtest?

When in doubt, re-format.

The 1Gbps network adapter is a good sign, not sure why Chrome is being funny.. Have you tried re-installing Chrome although it may be a pain?

As mentioned above it isn't the connection you'll get, just an "up-to" speed - a bit like future proofing your connection! What speeds do you achieve on Steam as your speedtest would suggest it wouldn't be much better, unless you could re-test from IE or Firefox etc.

Alright I figured out that my speed is "magically a little faster", my brother went onto the computer while I was away and it is faster. What could he be doing to slow my internet but his is fine?

Could easily be malware... Go to Internet Options from the start menu then Connections > LAN Settings. Make sure there is no proxy enabled, if you do disable it, and it reconfigures the proxy, it's likely some malware.
