Connection drops every few seconds

I just got a new usb wireless adapter.  Decided not to go with pci cards because i had 2 die on me already.  I got the TP-LINK AC 1200 model Archer T4UH.  The day i bought it worked fine without the random dips in connection speed.  The next day i got these dips.  This means alot because when i try to play LOL my ping would go from 27 to ~300 every few second which causes lag that makes it unplayable.  And this is not my internet providers fault because i get constant ping and speed if i use my phone for internet tethering.  The signal is at max bars and i've tried both usb 3.0 ports i have on my mobo.

So are you saying your phone when used in the same location as your desktop and using the same band is fine?  Are you using 2.4 or 5Ghz wifi?   you could always try changing the channel that your router/AP uses and see if that helps.

It's in the same location, i've tried moving the location of my adapter but nothing works.  Both my phone and adapter are using the 2.4ghz connection, my router can broadcast 5ghz it's a dlink DIR-826L but it is a very weak signal so it ends up giving me less speed than 2.4ghz.  I have no control over the settings of my router though cause my brother got it and he forgot the admin password.

Depending on your situation i would suggest powerline or a hardline connection.
