I have a lenovo thinkpad X1 carbon with an 17 and 8gb of ram. can anyone recommend good games to plan while i'm on vacation with this notebook?

i don't mean shitty graphics 3d games like Cs 1.6 (i'm not calling 1.6 shitty its one of my fave games of all time just the graphics are) but also 2d games like factorio or age of empires.

IDK if Rocket League or Minecraft will be smooth on just integrated graphics.

Heck I can run Planetside 2 on just integrated, but I'll never get more than 26 FPS starring at a corner.

which year version of the Carbon X1?

 

 

IMO you could play minecraft with low to medium details

 

but that is a more of a biz laptop than a gaming laptop

 

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

minecraft will if you give it decent ram usage, might slow down if tnt explodes though

Minecraft should run just fine. I have my wife's PC running Minecraft with a few modes on the iGPU of her i5 6400. She can also play some Elder Scrolls Online. I also love the Heroes of Might and Magic series.

Here are some games that I think a really good and graphically easy to run ( researcher first if you need a gpu, I suggest using can I run it) :

  • stalker series
  • mount & blade warband Napoleonic wars (Multiplayer)
  • Bioshock 1 (May be 2)
  • Oblivion
  • Civilisation V (Multiplayer/single player)
  • Half life series
  • Fallout 3

These game may not 100% work without a graphics card (Gpu) and I don't think you are  going to get high may be low or medium if you are lucky.

Keep in mind that he was talking about the i5-6400, which is a desktop Skylake CPU with Intel's HD 530 graphics. I don't know what generation your i7 is, but it may have something older than HD 530, and it may be more thermally limited by virtue of being a laptop. It may still run alright, just don't assume that you'll get the same results.

 

Of course if you already own it, give it a shot.
