PSU Replacing Different Color Wire?

I have an modular psu and I need to replace a wire on my ATX 24pin cable. Will replacing it with a different color wire from an extra cable work?

Case: Lian Li O11 Air Mini  PSU: Corsair RM1000e  SSD: Team Group MP34 4TB PCIe 4 NVME & 2x SSD 2.5 1TB, Mushkin REACTOR 960GB, Patriot Torch LE 960GB  Cooling: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE (PS120SE) with ARCTIC MX-6 & 9x Thermalright TL-C12 PRO 120mm

yes as long as it is the same CSA (cross sectional area) or AWG if your from 'merica

 

which is something like 16awg i think
