Hi,

 

I would like to have an idea of the effect of bitcoin mining on a GPU. 

 

If by effects you mean the physical effects on the card, if you keep everything properly cooled and at stock voltages/speeds then it will be fine. If you overclock it and stress it 24/7 for 9 months it is unlikely to degrade massively (presuming, again, it is properly cooled) but over time high voltages can degrade the card on an atomic level. The rate of this and effect it has is very variable, depending on the card itself, what the overclock/voltages involved are, etc.

Hi,

 

I would like to have an idea of the effect of bitcoin mining on a GPU. I could get a 7990 for around 500$ but I know it was used for bitcoin mining 24/7 with some occasional breaks for 9 months. Any thoughts ?

HEAVILY used up GPU for only 100$ less than it's current price is not a bargain. Get R9 290x when it comes out, single GPU and far less hassle as well.
