Petition for Youtube

Wanted to create a petition to see how many people agree with me, that youtube are f**king everything up, and not just for viewers, for creators (like linus) too.

I don't quite think a petition like that will do terribly much as many high profile YouTubers often complain about YouTube's development yet little happens. They really need to fix that sub box issue though.

While I definitely see your point, and I agree with you in a lot of ways.  I honestly think YouTube has no reason to care what we say or really should they.

For two reasons:

1) YouTube is not a paid service.  You are consuming everything on the site for free, they have to pay all of the ENORMOUS hosting costs themselves, administrative costs, and more background fees.  If you use ad-block then just delete this thread right now, because not only are you limiting YouTube's income, you are taking away from the content creators themselves.

 

2) YouTube has NO COMPETITION in their niche.  They are the largest video aggregate on the web.  Who could replace them?  Even if we don't like them, they kind of have a monopoly in their business, so unless you (and anyone else who likes this petition) agree to no use YouTube, you really have no basis to complain.

 

I could make the same argument for FaceBook.

 

NEVERTHELESS,

I agree that YouTube is wasting money on developing changes to their Website interface that no one has a problem with, while refusing to look at things that have been a concern for years.  All in all, YouTube only exists because of the people that use it, so if it were really that bad, then people would stop and they would change or be replaced. The internet is the best example we have of a free market in the modern world today.

Facebook does the same thing, the saying "don't fix it if it aint broke" doesnt apply to facebook/youtube apparently lol

I think YouTube peaked just before they got rid of the streaming/buffering thing that let you buffer entire videos before you watched them. Forget what it's called, but it's gone now and even the add-on to fix it doesn't work properly for me

is there a feature that will auto load any video in highest quality possible even in the small normal player? i know if u go fullscreen it'll auto go to highest but idk about the normal player, I really wish that was a feature if it isn't, and yeah that's STUPIDLY annoying tbh..

Don't think that's a thing, and yeah I just download videos and watch them locally now because it takes less time.

Fun fact. Nobody have mention Google in this thread. Youtube isn't developing Youtube, Google is.

I hate youtube in its current state, to be honest I preferred how it was in the past, yes it was never perfect but at least it was centered and it most things worked and it didn't have as many of those useless features it has now. I just can't fully comprehend why google can't seem to sort it out properly.

 

Although I am annoyed just like everyone else I am also forced to use youtube to watch content, can't really avoid it to be honest.

Congrats on the two of you getting 4k at the same time. I dont mean monitors, last time when i got 4k people got pissed thinking i was talking about monitors.
