Why is my computer freezing?

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

This could be.corrupted Windows. To which clean reinstall is solution. Another one I can think is bad drive where OS and games are.

So yesterday I started experiencing a problem. When I ran either TF2 or Overwatch, if I stop moving my mouse my computer completely freezes and the only response i get is by restarting using the reset button and even when I do that, I does it again when I launch one of those 2 games. I haven't ran any other games except for minecraft minecraft but on the launcher there is a weird visual glitch in if i maximize my minecraft window, only 1/4 of the full minecraft screen is all i can see but all the buttons are in the same place if it wasn't doing it.

Here are my specs

Asus GTX 960 (Overclocked to +1000 in MSI Afterburner)

AMD 7700K (Overclocked to 4.0 ghz)

Windows 8.1 which i cannot upgrade to windows 10 for some reason.

I know this isn't due to overheating because I can just wake up and want to play some overwatch and this issue happens. Nothing is in event viewer that looks strange too, just normal windows errors.

Yeah if it couldn't upgrade to 10 that could be a big sign of something curupted as deep as is somehow, but have you stressed your CPU and gpu? Mincecraft really doesn't tax a system at all unless you have crazy shaders. Just wondering if the OCs are stable

First thing you gotta do when ur pc crashes is go stock with ur OC's and see if it crashes then. If it doesn't then there's ur problem. Go with a lower OC and try again... Find a more stable OC. To me this really looks like an unstable OC.

If that's not it the other thing it might be is just a dieing 960. OC's can do that after all.

I have no signature

I just got my 960 2 days ago so it couldn't be a dying gpu and it's an oc edition made for overclocking

OC Edition usually means that card is factory overclocked. As in it runs with higher core and memory clocks than what stock speeds are. Only thing in GPUs that makes them more durable for OC is beefier coolers. Rest is laid upon silicon lottery.
