Help create a linux boot and win10 virtual pc

id like to boot up to linux

and then from that boot a virtual copy of windows 10

so that i have the protections of emulation.

if windows ever gets bad on me.

i can just load a snapshot of last week or whenever and it will be right as rain again

ive only messed around with linux a few times

and generally ended up breaking the install within a half an hour each time...

yeahhhh,,,,,

lol...

i7-6800k

128gb 2400mhz ram

gtx 970

i was thinking of booting to my m.2 having the snapshot saved on the m.2

having a seperate ssd in the pc for my steam library and data.

so that i get the fastest loading times for the operating system

was thinking of making a fake drive out of all that ram

windows will think its got like a 60gb C: drive or something

but ive got little idea how to do any of that.

other than

go grab a linux iso and a flash drive...

im lost after that tho...

i DO have a secondary gpu already

and even a secondary screen if need be

Pointless, without some pretty serious tinkering you'll only ever get virtual hardware in Windows and as such won't be able to game on it at all. Hardware pass through is NOT EASY and considering you break Linux so easily I very much doubt it's something you'd be able to achieve.

Why not just image Windows onto another HDD so you can restore it if you have a problem?

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)
