So I recently started folding with my new GTX 1070, and I would just like to ask if my score is okay, for around 40 hours of folding.

It seems kinda low, but not 100% sure.

I would also like to ask when do we get bronze/silver/gold/platinum/titanium/diamond badges :) ?

Your scores are low because you don't have QRB on yet. From the FAQ,

"...in 2010 we introduced the Quick Return Bonus (QRB), which gives extra points to users who rapidly and reliably complete WUs.

(...)

The bonus is applied for users who use a passkey, have successfully returned at least 10 bonus-eligible WUs, have successfully returned 80% or more of assigned WUs, and returned the unit before its Timeout (formerly Preferred Deadline). Bonus points do not apply to partial returns."

If you have set your passkey appropriately, wait until you get 10 WU and you should see a massive increase in PPD and scores. With that in mind, your scores are actually pretty normal right now.

I did register for that passkey.

You need that for bonus points. After you have complete 10 Work Units on the CPU slot, you will then get extra PPD point.

So I need to use CPU also? I'm only using GPU right now.

No, you don't need to use CPU if you don't want to. All you need is to complete 10 WUs pretty much. You have 9, so as soon as you complete your 10th, THEN you should see a jump in scores. Though that's just a score thing; as far as actually helping the scientists, it's irrelevant whether you get it or not, your hardware is still doing the exact same calculations.

Can I suggest you dedicate that CPU to something else then, rather than letting it go idle and waste computational power that would otherwise be useful? I suggest take a look at World Community Grid (link is in my signature). They're pretty much the same as F@H, but with more fields of research and one core difference: their work is CPU only, they don't currently make use of GPUs.

One thing I suggest people to do is to have GPUs working for F@H and CPUs for WCG. As a bonus, WCG will contribute to your Boinc badge here on the forums. Speaking of which...

For starters, badges on LTT only go up to gold. Check the F@H and Boinc FAQs for precise numbers you need to get each badge.

Okay, thanks for all the infos :)

I don't realy want to stres both CPU and GPU all the time, so I'm just running it on GPU. Also CPU is pretty slow with those calculations, so that's why I decided to disable it.

Found all details for badges also :)

Will look for WCG tommorow and see if CPU is more usefull there.

Welcome to the team!

You'll be getting a lot more than that (365549) in a day once the quick return bonus kicks in.

There's a rumor about updating the badges to reflect the higher levels being produced nowadays.  PM @Whaler_99 with your user name (and maybe a screenshot - not sure if they still want that) when you get to 21 WU, and then again at 1M points for your 1st 2 recognition awards.

I don't bother with the CPU projects since it makes more sense power-wise to just put an older GPU to use.  GTX 460 SE, anyone?

Well yesterday I was at 100k points and 9 WUs, so I was a bit worried if that's okay.

But today in the morning (after 10 hours), my points are at 360k.

So it seems like my score will be getting higher much faster :)

Will keep in mind for those badges, but to be honest, I did start with Folding because someone recommended it for stress tessting my GPU, to fix coil whine.

But after looking at more details about goldin and what does it do, I feel obligated to also help with this, especially because I also had to deal with cancer myself.

There are a lot of worthy causes out there - choose your flavor - you will be welcomed whatever your choice!

Haha GTX 460 folding doubles up as a space heater when it's cold. xD

I usually don't use my cpu for anything else when my GPU's folding because it usually takes up 80% of my cpu so the extra 20% is really not going to help in WCG. But I do have my server running WCG whenever I turn it on. Like everyone says, every little bit helps.

On another note, there's LTT teams for almost every BOINC project there is so feel free to take your pick of projects on BOINC :D
