Building new PC...

CPU: Intel i5 6400 2.7GHz Quad-Core

Motherboard: Asrock Z170 Pro4S ATX LGA1151

Memory: Kingston Savage 8GB DDR4 2133MHz

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 960 4GB

Power Supply: Corsair VS 550W 

 

I wonder if this is gonna work. 

Do you guys have any suggestions to make it better...

Good choice for the lower end budget GPU, I hear the 960 is a pretty good one for emulators at that price as well

Storage? I'd get a WB 1tb drive and a Samsung 850 Evo for windows (if you can afford it). Maybe get an aftermarket RX 480 when they launch instead of a 960. For the case I'd go for the NZXT S340 (I have a Corsair Carbide 400C and would also recommend it).

I agree with @Ajaz on the HDD for storage. SSD and HDD is a good combo that I recommend.

I have Intel 535 SSD 120GB from old pc and WD 1TB HDD

kk sounds good. If you plan on playing at 1080p at medium to high settings, your build sounds great

and downgrade your motherboard, it is a little overkill. Go for a B series instead of a Z.

Assuming you can find one OP, this is some advice to listen to.

 

Otherwise, everything looks good for a budget gaming system.

terrible selection.

that i5 is WAY too slow. at 2.7GHz, its almost as bad as the i3 6300. yes, for real.

 

going by the prices of the components you have about 600 USD budget.

In that case, you should go with this setup instead:

mobo is worse, but the performance should be notably better.
