Time for new

Ok, so today I went shopping and had a play with the Samsung S7 edge, gear VR and gear S2. After being in the shop for about an hour playing with them I've decided I want them but I have a ridiculously simple questions about the watch and the phone.

I get that they connect via bluetooth but other than that I wouldn't require the phone to have data for the watches functionality? I've had a search online and can't find the answer, probably as it's a obvious no but I'm not sure, hence the question.

I'm not too familiar with Samsung's products but it should work like any other smartwatch. Most smartwatches are still able to tell the time and date, track activity ect.

That's what I thought, I only really want it to tell the time and track my activity.

sorry, but why didnt you ask one of the sales reps when you was at the store? if your asking does your phone plan need to have a data plan, the answer is no. there is no reason i can think of why the watch would need a data plan to work.

Honestly, it was an after thought... I was happy in my own little world playing with the devices in the store, and then when I got home I realised I might need data for the two to work perfectly together.
