144hz through DVI-DL to Display port adapter?

So, because display port only supports single link DVI connections i basically can't get 144hz? is that right? Does this mean that 144hz only worsk on Duel Link DVI connections? Sorry for all the questions.

Display port can handle the bandwidth for 144hz if it was DP to DP but since you're trying to use a passive DP to DVI adapter, the DP has a lot less connections compared to dual link DVI so you can't physically wire the required 24+1 pins/connections for dual link DVI.

I have a BenQ XL2411T monitor that has 144hz as the maximum refresh rate, and i'm curious to know that If i got DVI-DL to Display port or vice versa adapter, that I would still get the full 144hz and 1ms response time?

Or would an adapter of this nature limit me to 60hz?

Thanks.

You'll need an active adapter which is extremely expensive so...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Would you care to explain? So a simple cheap one wouldn't allow me to get 144hz? Just so i'm clear?

It's the way DVI and display port is wired, display port doesn't have 24+X pins therefore it can only run at DVI single link as there isn't enough connections (to put it simply).

HDMI doesnt support 144hz

It can do 120 but only if it is 1.4b or 2.0

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

That was my other main monitor. I'm on about my secondary HDMI monitor, it wasn't really part of the original question but that other guy was answering my questions so i thought i'd throw it in there.

Anyway, can't you just use DP to DP or DL to DL?
