Shut down time

Hello, I was working on my grandpas old PC today and after messing with windows updates and eventually killing his PCs ability to boot properly in the process (doesn't matter, all his data is safe and recovered and his laptop is what he uses now anyway).

 

In that process I noticed how quickly his machine could shut down. It took seconds. Compared to my PC, it takes it around maybe 20 seconds or more, before it powers off.

 

Granted his HDD had very little on it and the PC only had office and a few dozens of GB of data on it compared to my ~400GB. 

 

So all in all, is that ~20 sec shutdown time normal or ok?

 You mean where the pc's running still for a few seconds while the monitors and all are off? I get that too, I think its something to do with the parts in our pc's? Maybe a Z97 thing?

Yeah that's what happens. The monitors go off but the fans and everything keeps spinning. I do have a Z97 board.
