So as of a recent upgrade in my pc, I've come to own 3 Corsair SP and AP 120 fans and with 4 fans total in my case, things are a little on the louder side with only 3 pin fans that cannot be controlled via my motherboard.  Lately I've been looking into buying a Sentry 3 from NZXT as a fan controller for my NZXT Phantom 240 case.  Does anyone have any experience with these coolers and any advice?  I'm really not looking to spend a fortune and the $35 mark is tempting on this visually appealing controller.  (Granted my front door on my case is closed all the time so I won't see it anyways).  I'd like something that can adjust fan levels based on computer load/heat if possible.  Currently my rig consists of a MSI GTX 970 (with a blower cooler) and a all-in-one liquid cooling unit for my 4790k i7 CPU.

I have those exact same fans in my system, I use Asus Z170-A. It has BIOS enabled fan control so that is what I use. I'm not sure if that is an Asus specific thing, but lots of motherboards probably come with something similar. There is also alot of software that you can download for fan control in most situations. You shouldn't NEED a fan hub to control the fans already in your system (assuming they're all plugged in)

The motherboard has pretty nice fan control that's probably as good as the Sentry.

Which fans are plugged into which headers? What settings are you using?

I have two fans plugged into Chassis Fan power outlets and my radiator fan plugged into a "pwr fan" outlet on the motherboard.  I've tried switching it between "Silent mode" and "standard mode" in the BIOS without any noticeable change in RPM

Pwr_fan just runs the fan at 100%. If you want  to control the fan speed, use a different header.

What about the ones in Chassis_fan?  Can't seem to control those with voltage

That should allow for manual fan control.

What settings are you using?

The chassis fans.  Which are 3-pin corsair SP and AF fans.  120mm

Are you changing the settings for the correct header? There should be more than one cha_fan header.

I believe so...  All my cha_fan's are plugged in so I figure atleast one of them should change in rpm

Double check which specific header your changing settings for and what the fan is plugged into.

Checked it.  I only have two Cha_fan adjustments and I set them both to silent.  No drop in RPM.  My guess is it adjusts through PWM and since its a 3 Pin Fan, PWM won't work.  Do you know of any way to make it voltage controlled?

There should be 3 chassis headers and you should use cha_fan2 or cha_fan3 for DC control.

My user manual only lists 2 Cha_Fan headers and then the one PWR_Fan

Oh, I was looking at the wrong manual (Z97 Extreme4)--thought you had a different board from memory.

cpu_fan2 should work.

Another option is trying SpeedFan.
