I am planning on building a budget gaming rig, and for parts I am a little skeptical since I am not sure on which CPU I should get (i3 6100, i3 6300, i5 4460, fx 6300). I would like to know your opinion on my "choices". I want to play (mostly) competitive games like LOL, CS:GO, and some others like Fallout, etc.

I have a strict budget of 650 euros. But in my budget I am also including monitor, OS, a basic keyboard and a VGA cable (yes i don't have nothing :P).

I will give you guys the prices of the parts I picked:

GPU gtx 750ti - 125 eur

CPU i3 6100 - 114,90 eur; i3 6300 - 159,90 eur; i5 4460 - 179,90 eur; fx 6300 - 104,90 eur

MB MSI H110M PRO-VH - 60,90 eur (for the lga 1151 socket); MSI H81M-P33 - 46,90 eur (for the lga 1150 socket); Asus M5A78L-M LX3 - 49,90 eur (for the AM3+ socket)

Case - like a cheap 30 eur case

HDD western digital 1TB - 51,70 eur

PSU Corsair VS-450w - 41,50 eur

Ram 8gb ddr3 - 33,90 eur; 8gb ddr4 - 31,90 eur

Basic keyboard - 7 eur (since I have a hp compaq nc6120 laptop at the moment :()

VGA cable - 5 eur

WiFi dongle - 7,50 eur (since my house is not wired with ethernet)

Monitor idk like a 90 eur monitor

OS - 25 eur

TOTALLING: 590,4 eur (for the i3 6100 build); 635,4 eur (for the 6300 build); 643,4 eur (for the 4460 build); 571,4 eur (for the fx 6300 build)

I was also planning to add an headset to the build since I don't have one and it would be around 32 eur.

Of course I want to upgrade the build that is why I chose the i3.

Thanks in advance for your help!!! :D

NOTE: English is not my mother tongue so i am sorry for any errors

If you plan to upgrade, get the i3-6100.

Also, for the GPU, I highly suggest waiting for the RX 460. Owning a 750ti before, a 460 should do med-high settings in AAA games 1080p60fps

i7-6700k  Cooling: Deepcool Captain 240EX White GPU: GTX 1080Ti EVGA FTW3 Mobo: AsRock Z170 Extreme4 Case: Phanteks P400s TG Special Black/White PSU: EVGA 850w GQ Ram: 64GB (3200Mhz 16x4 Corsair Vengeance RGB) Storage 1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 240GBSandisk SSDPlus, 480GB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB Crucial NVMe

I would say go with either the i3 6100 or the i5 4460. The difference between the 6100 and 6300 isn't enough to justify the price and the fx 6300 just struggles too much for me to recommend it.

If getting the 4460 means you have to cheap out on something get the i3. Also getting a used cpu isn't such a bad idea, especially a non k cpu.

Okay thank you for your reply, but should I even consider the i3-6300?

Well the i5 is the strongest out of the choices, and price to performance wise I would say it's the best value, oh and don't get a VS power supply, if you need suggestions just look at the PSU tier list in my sig and see if something preferably from the top 3 tiers is available in your area for a reasonable price.

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/ Tier Breakdown (My understanding)--1 Godly, 2 Great, 3 Good, 4 Average, 5 Meh, 6 Bad, 7 Awful

Yeah but used prices here in Portugal are shit people are asking 600 euros for a fx 6300 paired with a r9 280x with a cheap PSU, that's not a thing to consider...

Personally the 6100 is fine, I can run mine at stock and at 3.9GHz if you want and show you the difference but 200MHz wont make a difference. Not a marginal one.

Yes, get a different PSU as well.

Okay thank you very much for the quick answer :D

I could get an xfx ts 430w for 43,90 eur http://www.globaldata.pt/componentes/fonte-de-alimentacao/fonte-xfx-ts-430w-80-bronze.html

Or a corsair cx-430 w for 49,60 eur http://www.globaldata.pt/componentes/fonte-de-alimentacao/fonte-xfx-ts-430w-80-bronze.html

I know you won't understand nothing but if you want to see what i am talking about!

But you might not have very good options that keep in you budget if you get the i5, so you might be limited to an i3 however I can't recommend a PSU of that low level of quality regardless

Yep I agree with DarkBlade on that, it's much better than a VS, good luck on the PC building.

Yeah I will probably buy the i3-6100 and then upgrade because it is basically a 4 core CPU because hyperthreading.

I will probably upgrade it with a more powerful i5 or even an i7 idk.

But thank you for your answer! :D
