MAC OSX

I recently re installed osx 10.6 on a macbook pro 15" (early 2009)  I then proceded to update the software and now it wont boot, (corssed out circle on boot) ANyone know somewhere to dowload the mac osx sofware? (10.6 - 10.7) (not a torrent) 

My friend im guessing got it from a torrent.
