There are many ENBs that do a much better job than what the engine provides, you can also customize them to your liking as well to a much, much greater extent than you ever could with the new engine.

Anything in specific? I've played a good chunk outta Skyrim, but haven't looked too much into the mods.

Just go to the Nexus mods website and look at the ENB category. There are some pretty good ones like RealVision, Tamriel Reloaded, etc.

Honestly I don't like the newer versions of SkyUI that include the crafting menu. The list format is honestly pretty bad.

I'm actually fine with the stock UI. I like the looks of it better than SkyUI.

If you want to mod Skyrim to its fullest, you NEED SkyUI for the Mod Configuration Menu. There's also a mod called SkyUIAway that allows for this while keeping the vanilla UI modules intact

Personally, I recommend the Natural Lighting & Vivid Atmospherics ENB, which is fairly new, and brings in some new weathers as well.

I played relatively vanilla all the way through.  This was the one I would want if I could just pick one.  It has been a long time since I played... back at release.

SkyUI 5's crafting menu is brutal, impossible to use with a collection of modded armors.  I just took some of the .swf files I was using in skyUI 4 and used them to replace the crafting menu's in skyUI 5, and toggled skyUI option in the MCM to STFU about errors.  it's just waaay better, and hundreds of hours later I've had zero issues.

Plus I really like having the slot column that b3lisario made on LoversLab.  https://www.loverslab.com/topic/34026-skyui-show-armor-slots/  I absolutely hated having a character hair disappear just because I equipped a hood or a bizarre circlet, or having a followers ears disappear and not knowing why, or which slot was the problem.

I like the SkyUI crafting menu fine, just have to utilize the search feature. But yeah, that show armor slots mod is an absolute must for people with a lot of modded armors.

Really?  Would it be fair to assume that you don't have a lot of armor mods, or do much crafting at the forge?  Cause I gotta tell ya, after trying to outfit my party in new custom gear I had to get rid of UI 5's crafting menu.  Was difficult to "window shop" since skyui 5's menu has 2 alphabetically ordered lists, one in which you have all the raw materials to create items and right after that there's another list for where you're missing on e or some of the raw materials.  Add to that that the lists tend to change as you start crafting where the text is jumping around and me losing my place when making armour sets.  Was just not a good experience overall IMO.  Though, in SkyUI5 tempering huge swaths of items in a single sitting is easier and faster, it doesn't make up for the difficulty when forging.

Besides, skyUI 4's crafting menu still has search function if I'm not mistaken, not that I remember the names of all the armors and weapons I've d/l'ed or that all the pieces in a set have a root naming scheme.  But to each their own.

I agree, that's the one feature I'd prefer to be a little different or be able to switch between views. However, the overall functionality is quite nice, especially with the armor slot mod installed. Being able to sort by slot/value/item type is super handy. And if there are items I can't make due to lack of materials, it's as easy as scrolling down.

I have a ton of armor mods, so sometimes scrolling to the bottom of the list is a bit cumbersome, but given that I'm playing with a controller, lstickdown+dpaddown fastforwards the scrolling process. Not sure if that's a feature on m+kb, but I imagine that it is.
