Is my ram Holding me back?

Hello,  as the title describes I am not sure if my memory is what is holding my fps back.

My system is:

i5-4690k

gtx 970 g1

Hyper X black 2x4gb (8gb total)

hyper x fury 120gb ssd

I mostly play World of Warcraft, and I have been experiencing an under performance lately , I used to have 60+ fps at ultra settings but these days I tend to go under 50 a lot of the time, especially in open world. I am not sure  if the problem is the amount of memory but it is worth mentioning I tryed to overclocked my gpu and after having constant issues with it i decided to go back to default using msi afterburner these happened around the time i started to experience an under-performance.

I DO NOT know anything about overclocking I bought an overclockeable cpu just because LTT recommended it.  Although I understand the concept, the numbers are Japanese to me (I dont speak Japanese) , I don't know what to expect from my gpu or my cpu, so when I tried to overclock and my gpu started to give me problems I just set it to default.

My questions are :

1 : is the ram causing the under-performance? Does ram affect fps in any way?

2: Is there any super noob explained guide of what to expect from ocerclocking my cpu and gpu? or any program (like msi afterburner) that could just do it for me?

Thank you very much for the help.

Not a native English speaker but if I made any mistake please point it out since I want to learn.

Since we don't know your RAM speeds (which is not gonna be the problem with that setup), you asking if 8GB is the limiting factor in FPS.

The answer: it depends on every game.

Look at your RAM usage while gaming, if its always at 100%, then its definetly going to cause issues. If it isn't., then its not. I still suggest getting more RAM though, 16GB being highly recommended. As far as OCing, there is no need or real benefit from overclocking your PC to play WoW. When you did your OCing, what values did you change? Voltages? Core clock? memory clock?

Gaming - Ryzen 5800X3D | 64GB 3200mhz  MSI 6900 XT Mini-ITX SFF Build

Home Server (Unraid OS) - Ryzen 2700x | 48GB 3200mhz |  EVGA 1060 6GB | 6TB SSD Cache [3x2TB] 66TB HDD [11x6TB]

I really cant remember , I think core clock, memory clock and power limit

yeah then you didn't damage your parts by accidently setting the voltages to something crazy high or anything. Take a look at your ram usage using task manager when playing games.

This is how my msi afterburner looks like. Anything I can do? Since it seems like memory is not the problem as you guys predicted.

My memory is at 64% , but Ill add another 8gb soon.

MSI Afterburner shows your GPU's specs. It's not showing your main memory. In any case, main memory usually does not impact the performance of games all that much unless it's being used to support an integrated GPU. Though I have seen cases where faster RAM does help, more often than not, it doesn't. Particularly with an MMO like WoW because it's designed to run on lower end machines for maximum market share. To put in another perspective, I play FFXIV and it never exceeds 900MB of RAM usage. And WoW shouldn't be any more of a heavy hitter.

Try updating your  drivers, the afterburner screenshot shows older drivers.  I had problems in wow with some of the older drivers.
