I'm upgrading my GPU from my old EVGA SC GTX 960, and I'm mainly upgrading because I want a better looking GPU. I know it sounds crazy, but I do go for looks, but I also care about performance. My 960 was able to play most games I threw at it with relative ease, and managed 50-60 in games like BF4, GTA V, and Battlefront. However, I've sold it, and am in the process of looking for a new GPU. Keep in mind I only have a 1080p 60 Hz monitor, so I don't need crazy frames in the 100s. But anyways, I haven't been able to choose the right GPU, as my budget is around 250-275, and I need a card that both looks and performs well. I've been looking at a GTX 960 or an R9 380x, and they seem pretty similar, both in performance and somewhat in price. So what do you guys think I should get? Or should I wait for the 1060?

im so blagged.. so you sold a 960 and now are looking at another 960 or 380x? wut.

Yes... I know it's stupid but my GTX 960 was ugly, and it was an ITX optimized one, with one fan, so not much headroom for over clocking.

apart from the fact its killing motherboards, he should try get an r9 390.

Oh it already is annoying me how often I read it. AMD is supposedly bringing up a driver patch for that. And as long as it is a good quality and PCIe Gen3 mobo it shouldn´t have any issues. But a 390 is a good choice as well

Yes I was looking into it, but my monitor only has DVI and VGA. It's old and outdated but it works fine with DVI. I haven't found an HDMI to DVI that works though.

Wait for the custom ones to see if some manufacturers change the connectors and maybe add a DVI port

Might be worth waiting for the custom designs then.

Sapphire has announced their Nitro and it sports a DVI port. Plus, cooling is nearly guaranteed to be good on the basis of it being a Sapphire card:

You can easily adapt from HDMI to DVI, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'd recommend you wait for a custom rx 480 that doesn't have only a 6 pin power connector.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
