monitors with No HDMI ?

Go to solution Solved by alexhelvetica,

DVI-D and HDMI are essential the same, HDMI can natively support Audio but most graphics cards treat DVI-D and HDMI the same so you can get an audio output from a DVI-I port if you plug it into a HDMI monitor with speakers.

I think most if not all GTX 970 's have at least one DVI port, but a passive HDMI to DVI-D adapter will work too if you don't have enough DVI ports.

DVI-I = Digital and analogue output (can be adapted to VGA or HDMI passively )

DVI-D = Digital output (Can be adapted to HDMI passively)

So I am currently looking to buy a monitor from a local computer store because I am preparing to buy a new pc that has a 970 gfxcard and I noticed that almost all of the monitors that are being sold don't have hdmi, they all have DVI-D and VGA.

So my question is this : Is DVI-D as good as HDMI ? and does the 970 come with a DVI-D port ? (I assume it does have DVI-D but not VGA)

Thanks in advance
