EXP GDC beast

So I'm planning an upgrade for my laptop which is currently rocking a GT 425M by adding a eGPU via EXP GDC beast(mpcie version).

What would be my best go for the card? I've pretty much settled at 750ti, but who knows, there might be a better budget card.

Also, any downsides for using GDC? Probably performance decreasing and maybe some chances of failure?
