When an update is available on my systems (my laptop as well as my destop) my windows 10 just breaks. Certain things just wont work until I update my system, after which all the problems are gone.

This is a frustrating issue and I was wondering if you guys know something I can do.

-I have clean installed both systems multiple times.

-Tried to turn off the automatic update and driver downloader (did not work)

Problems vary to not being able to search for stuff (searchbar) to breaking entire programs (Chrome was giving only white pages, updates installed of system, works like a charm)

My current rig:

CPU :Intel I7 4790K , MOBO: Asus Maximus Hero VII , STORAGE: Plextor m6e 256Gb + WD Black 3Tb, GPU(s): 1x ASUS STRIX GTX 1060, PSU: Corsair RM1000 , CASE: Fractal Design S.

Unfortunately thats just Windows.. it breaks things at times with Updates. Nothing you can really do about it.

The strange thing though is that my system is working fine. When updates are available, THEN my system breaks. When I install the available updates, my system is fixed. That is the strange part about it....

Might be just as its downloading and installing? Choking your bandwidth maybe?

Chrome was just 1 example ( and it doesnt state it cannot load anything, just a white page). Other things are that games just wont start, nvidia drivers shit out completly and basic windows functions (like the search bar). So I doubt it is chocking my internet ( I also have 500/500 here)

What anti-virus do you have? Are you using any system tweak tool? Are you installing any pirated software tools or such? (sometimes they modify system files)

Do you use any security software like firewalls, beside your A/V?

Do you have RAM as disk?

As for the anti-virus, I still need to install that (recently gotten fresh instal).

I do not use any system tweak tools or pirated software (Had some problems long ago with it, never doing it again)

I do not use RAM as disk.

I do not use RAM as disk.

So, the reason why I asked those questions is that there is a strong correlation from what I am seeing with select software that breaks things.

All A/V and security software right should be fine under Windows 10. It was an issue for some back when Windows 10 was released, but I don't know which version one might install.

As for tweak tools, many just changes stuff in the registry, and that is normally fine. Others, likes to modify system files to acheive things not normally possible, and this is where things breaks. I think that one is obvious.

Lastly, RAM as disk is a huge problem. I have yet figured it out why it does this, but anyone that uses RAM as disk are having lots of problem with Windows 10, including upgrading from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10. I don't know if disabling it, and doing the update will now work, or if your Windows is already screwed up and you are looking at a clean install.

Ok, thanks for the clarification ^^.

same here I went to ubuntu as windows basically leaves my computer unusable after every update. What did it for me was i tried to install hyper-v, it got to 98% and failed so rolled back. It took ages to boot up and then it did the Inital set up when i logged in , we're happy you're here, well I am not.

after that when i logged in it said "profile not found ins /system32 or something, all other users could no due to "group policy" or something. So happy i'm away from this sort of rubbish. Though i have just bought a 128 GB usb to make a windows to go. didn't want to dual boot but i do need windows to play a game with my friends and a virtual machine won't cut it.
