what is the difference b/w

vsync

adaptive sync

separate sync(viewsonic monitors)

freesync

G-sync

what should i look for(gtx 1080..ordered yet to arrive)

vsync- it locks the frames so they match the monitors refresh rate. If you GPU can do 80FPS in game, if you turn on vsync of a 60Hz monitor, you will only get 60FPS.

Adaptive vsync- same principle but only turns on when it detects tearing

separate sync- not sure

freesync/gsync (both work the same way)- the GPU tells the monitor when to refresh so if the card does 80FPS, the monitor will refresh at 80Hz. You need a special monitor for that though. Usually comes with a premium (nvidia!!).

I mentioned nvidia because they charge the manufacturer to put in the gsync module whereas AMD does not. That's why freesync monitors are so much cheaper than gsync monitors.
