Okay I just received my i5 4690 to replace my i3 4130. I plug everything in and it starts like error-beeping for around 5 seconds then shuts down. Forgot to mention, I also have the stock fan on it which came with the i5.

My friends tells me you forgot to do the BIOS update, I thought I could just do it with the new CPU plugged in. But obviously I was wrong. So I'm now plugging my old fan and CPU back into my system so I can now download the new BIOS or whatever. And nothing is working it won't even switch on. My graphics card tries to load up flashes its lights for like 5-7 seconds simultaneously whilst my fans are spinning and then automatically shuts down.

I've tried unplugging my GPU and Ram, seperately and together. Tried using my new and old CPU, tried using either fan. I feel like I've tried everything, I've been trying for 2 hours. I saw something about removing the battery on my motherboard for 10-15 seconds and I've also tried this. My motherboard and i5 4690 are compatible. And also I've never had any problems with my PSU. I'm currently writing all this on my mobile, hopefully this has explained everything enough. Please help me and feel free to ask all questions.

Sorry mate. Not sure what this means, haha.

Unplug the power to the computer then if you have a cmos jumper (look at manual)move it to the other position breifly and put it back to the original position, or remove the battery on the motherboard.

@CallisterUK

And/or your motherboard might have a "clear cmos" button on either the back i/o panel or inside on the motherboard itself

Hi, my PC Motherbord is H81M-D2V. My motherboard has M_Bios and B_Bios (or something extremely similar on it). You said I need to move this, but how do I actually toggle them? Having no luck.

Sorry for all of these pathetic questions, but yes I've found it on my Motherbord thanks to you. Put what shall I do? It states use a metal object to touch the pins. Is that simply all you need to do? Just a hold a screwdriver touching the pins?

Yes, just short the two for around 10 seconds or so.

This is the current state of my CMOS thing. I'm an idiot when it comes to all of this. Please view the pictures, I've watched videos and there cables look so different. I'm getting so f*cking frustrated. I've kept these wires out for 30 seconds and replugged back in. Still no hope.

Bump - still needing help guys. Thanks.

That cables you pulled out are the front io cables, the 2 pins to the top left of those directly below the heatsink is the clear cmos, just find something metal like a paperclip, screwdriver to connect the two pins and then try to see if the problem is fixed.

The two pins cannot physically connect. Do you just mean touch them together? What does to this do exactly. Thanks for your reply.
