Home Theater setup needs tuning

Hi LTT Community

I have an old mac wich i repurposed as HTPC. I installed windows 8.1 on it an bought a Mini DP to hdmi converter.

 

I have a settupbox (proximus tv) HDMI Port 1. It did not give audio over hdmi.

Instead the audio goes from settupbox (RCA) to 3.5 mm. Its connected to the microphone input of the HTPC. 

The HTPC is connected to the bose sound system. I set the pc to listen to microphone input to create an audio passthrough. However now the sound of the settopbox keeps playing when you switch to tv source to the PC. And the audio keeps playing when you turn of the TV. Very annoying. I could not set the pc to give audio over hdmi for some reason.

Anyone has a solution?
