Correct.

The official way is to purchase a Windows 10 key is from certified Microsoft reseller such as Newegg.com these are usually around ~$100

The non-official way is to purchase from sites like G2A.com, Kinguin.com or reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap where you can usually get them for around $20.

No, I wouldn't trust that. For the same money buy yourself a cheap 4 - 8GB USB Flash drive and download Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft's Website.

You will need to purchase a Windows 10 key in order to activate Windows 10 (not needed if you are upgrading from Win7/8 - this has be done by July 29).

Windows 10 should install and run no problem. It has generic drivers. But you do need to find the latest drivers for your mobo/chipset in order for Windows to detect/use the onboard devices correctly.

I myself use Windows 10 on old mobo which does not have Windows 10 drivers available. I am having to use Windows 8 drivers which I could only install using Device Manager.

What is your PC build you are planning on?

From a quick google it looks like people are able to install and run Windows 10 using Core 2 duo processors (you may need to disable Execute-Disable bit in the BIOS though).

If Windows 10 does not work you could try installing a Linux distro, such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint
