Razer Nostromo / Belkin N52TE

Looking into these keypads, they are exactly the same. I currently have the Saitek Cyborg command unit which the keys register as their own; keys 10-21.

I have read that the nostromo/N52TE emulate a keyboard. Has anybody used one before and can tell me whether that's true and if I can disable that feature; so it instead uses it's own key presses like the command unit?
