There is no code or anything, the router just doesn't recognize that there is anything connected. I tried with a flashdrive a while back and it worked fine but the hard drive wont work. On the netgear site the compatibility list has high capacity drives on it so i don't know what i'm doing wrong, this is my first attempt at anything to do with networking.

Find out what filesystems the router can read & write to. I wouldn't be suprised if the only support FAT32 and maybe exFAT.

 

EDIT: Similarly, I bet it can only take MBR drives, not GPT.
