So I recently purchased a new router because my other router lacked many features as it was distributed by the ISP and had their own custom firmware installed on it. The new router I purchased is a TP-Link Archer C2 (AC750). I setup it up with PPPoE via WAN port nave static addresses applied to most of my devices (my computer is in the DMZ). I begin to notice horrible performance (i,e internet dropouts/request timed out when testing ping and games freezing intermittently or fully disconnecting). However, with my ISP provided router there are no such issues and everything functions very smoothly as there are noticeable response time differences and webpages don't time out.

I'm using a 802.11n supported network card from TP-Link with two antennas and have no signal strength issues with either router. I believe there could be some sort of compatibility issue, perhaps my network card is out of date for some reason? I've already tested the router with other devices such as a MacBook Pro and a Windows laptop and neither have issues with it. The only computers with issues are two both installed with TP-Link network cards. I've yet to test via Ethernet to confirm that it isn't some internal issue with the router.

Should I purchase a new and more expensive network card to troubleshoot with?

Try updating your drivers.

If you already have.

Try downgrading your drivers.

Okay so I updated the drivers manually since Windows Update couldn't find the proper version. I updated my the drivers for my AR9287 wireless device.

Still having issues with connection such as games freezing, webpages taking time to load (a bit faster now with the new drivers but not perfect). I have noticed slight improvements in terms of connection stability but the issue is still present.

Hmm, well they are cheap.

I guess you could buy a new one and if it does not fix the problem, return it?! Amazon have free returns
