Help Installing Sound Card

Go to solution Solved by Jacktastic-Mofo,

Got it, thanks for the help guys.

So I just picked up this generic 5.1 sound card for my new build as the motherboard doesn't feature on board audio, however when I throw it into the PCI-E slot (which I tested with another expansion card to make sure isn't dead) and try to install drivers it says that it cannot detect the card, any ideas? I'm using Windows 10, 64bit which the card apparently has support for.

Is the card showing up in device manager?

does it come with a disc?

Yeah, and I tried running the drivers on it but it says that it doesn't detect the sound card.

It could be that the seller gave you the wrong CD. I found this driver on their website it is for windows 8 not for windows 10, but it was the newest one they had. 8738-1.04(W8-CR).zip

Still getting that error, but I believe the card is at least present to the OS- I'm gonna remove it and see if this is still here.

So I've gone through and counted all the devices in the device manager with and without the card, and when the cards gone there is one less device in both System Devices and USB Controllers oddly enough. That makes me feel a little bit better, so there's a chance this card isn't dead. I'm gonna try disabling the built in audio controller and see if it works.

Nice. Also as a side note that is a sick build you got. I currently am using the 2670 too but just one.

Thanks, the build isn't done yet. The rest of the parts should be in by the end of next week though. I got my motherboard and some other stuff in however, you should check out my build log :)
