this particular xeon is pretty much an i7 6700 without the iGPU and maybe with a few workstation/server features.

I would like to record my own games for later inspection. I know thats not streaming but i sorta figured its close and i7 is what i saw reccomended for streamers but if i dont need it thats cool would i need it for recording my own games?

At this point I know ive done pretty much everything wrong what would you recommend for less than 1300(with monitor) for my needs you guys seem way more qualified than me.

Well it certainly couldn't hurt. in MOST games and situations, the i5 would probably still be fine (so long as you get 6500 or 6600) even with a game recording program or screen capture. but in a really CPU intensive game, you could theoretically run into some issues. I'm not familiar with the exact workload such programs put onto your computer, but I would say that in nearly all cases it should still be fine to have the i5.

If you're not certain, its definitely worth getting the i7 just to be safe. no sense trying to shave 100ish dollars off your 1400 dollar computer only to have a 1300 dollar paperweight.

an i7/xeon is recommended for streamers, if you aren't streaming, an i5 6500 wil do. but since you did say you might do video editing, i'd go with the i7/xeon since it helps to have the threads in editing.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

think of it as a graphics card in the cpu or the motherboard(a very weak one). since you're gonna get a graphics card, you won't be using this iGPU anyways.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

cool so is the xeon kinda the same as an i7 but without the i7 name/brand and integrated graphics?

man thats cool

can you drop some motherboard knowledge on me cause idk what im doing

if you're gonna get an lga 1151 xeon, remember to get a motherboard with the c23x chipset, intel forced xeons to work only with these chipsets to prevent regular consumers to get these xeons(not gonna stop us though:P). pick the cheapest mobo with the features you need, and with the aesthetics that you like the most(if you cared about that).

not for this one, any mobo will do for this. you don't need an optical drive for windows, just burn a windows 10 iso into a usb drive and set your mobo to boot from it.

get a z170 mobo. you cant oc on a locked chipset. also for the price, that psu is not worth it. you can get an evga gs 550 thats fully modular, made by seasonic, and $10 less. hybrid drives are useless when you have an ssd. either get a 1TB or 2TB normal drive. 970 is not worth the cost. you can either get a 1070 for $100 more or wait 8 days and get an rx 480 for $200 and performs roughly around a 980

I have revised almost everything what do you think? ( im looking into the graphics card rx 480 the other is a place holder)

no to the supernova NEX, they're subpar compared to other psus. the antec truepower classic 750w for $60 after $30 rebates will be better. also, wait for the Rx 480 in a week, the gtx 960 just isn't good anymore.

the cables are removable. its helpful to have and makes building a lot easier. i recommend the evaa gs 550 (http://pcpartpicker.com/product/N6X2FT/evga-power-supply-220gs0550v1)

just note the antec is nonmodular. at that price, i think the seasonic m12ii/s12ii are better

you dont need a cpu cooler for a xeon. you cant oc it and it comes with an intel cooler thats perfectly fine for stock loads. seagate also has a 2TB drive for $65 if you think youll need more storage. other than that, everything looks good (and yes, wait for the rx 480)

the s340 has a psu shroud, so even if its not modular, you won't be able to see the cables anyway.
