Fx8350 or I5 4690 (not overclockable) (not K)

Can anyone help me decide which processor to buy to fit with my build!

(MICRO ATX BUILD)

Gtx 970 msi (black and white)

16gb ram

1tb HDD, 120gb ssd

motherboard: Unsure depends on processor (advice welcome)

600 W corsair

I5 would be better, but which corsair psu are you getting? If its the cx600, please get something better.

Also, don't get the gtx 970, please. The rx 480 ar june 29 for $200 will be cheaper and much better.

Always Intel until we see results from Zen, Intel is faster clock for clock against everyting atm.

Just because not K does not mean it won't overclock mine is doing this atm http://valid.x86.fr/dvb3zq and its not K and its Sandy-Bridge-E

the i5 4690 is better than the 13 6100 because it has 4 physical cores.

What's your budget if you're building from scratch. If upgrading wait a bit longer till Zen.

If you're gaming go I5, it will give you much better performances. Still i don't get why you'd take the 970 over a 1070 or RX480, they would suit your build much better.

Grab the i5 and don't waste your money on a 970. wait for the RX 480 in 8 days.

I guess the i5 is the more compatible choice for most games but if the FX is fully used by the game then the FX will probably surpass it, yet the majority of the games on the market right now still runs on two cores which means the i5 will be better. But with the lga1150 board you can buy a i7-4790K which has the best of both worlds later! (why not Xeon?)

There is not much growth there though. An unlocked i7, but then you're buying some serious old tech by the next time you are upgrading. 

 

Just my own opinion. If he is comparing the a ~$120 CPU.
