Hello.

I got an offer to buy a used pc.

specs:

i7 960
amd 6870hd 1gb
12gb ram
1tb hdd
750w psu

The price is 300€ (340$).

I know it can run games that i play (cs go, gw2...), but my question is if it is worth it 300€/340$ or should I look for something cheaper/better?

The 960 is a fairly old CPU and the 6870 is antiquated tbh. I would just ebay together some parts.  If you can wait a few days you can usually find great deals and end up with something like a 770 or maybe even a 780/290 some i5 from a newer gen than that i7 960. I think you can get a better used pc for that amount of money.

Just as an example in German the is a 290 for 155€ right now. That is maybe 165 with shipping if seller is greedy. I am sure you can get some used cpu mono combo for 100€ and an HDD as well as a PSU for a few bucks each.

Well the i5 is super nice the 660 time is very much me. I just wouldn't buy a full system as you will usually have to search a while to find some th in that was put together very wisely. That for example is to cpu heavy.  Should be like an i5 3330 and a 670 or 680. Maybe a 7970. For gaming you want a GPU heavy build but Usually a real quad core if you can get one and tbh I would not buy any first gen intel cores anymore. Just 2000 series and up with a preference of 3000 and up. Although he rehearsal 2k series will probably be fine UNLESS pairing with a 780 or higher (OR AMD equivalent which would be faster a thing faster than a 280x)

As someone who has 0 experiance with pc building, a full system would be nice. Not that I am not capable of learning, its just "safer" that way :)

You can usually find pretty good deals on eBay with used builds. It just takes time and patience to find one that's right for you.

A crap case or too little Ram or too little storage can always be cheaply upgraded over time.

Well if you find something like a rig with a good PSU and no GPU you should definitely consider at least that. Installing a GPU is a matter 1 latch, 2 screws and 1 or 2 power cables and your done.

From what I have seen separate parts also seem to cheaper but I could also be mistaken/ this is phenomenon in my area.

What are your options in terms of shops? Are there any local shops selling used parts that you might be able to check out?

Eh... Not many. Its a small country(small market). Prices are probably higher than in UK and other bigger countries. We have a local web site, kinda like ebay but people value their stuff way too high. Similar pc to the one i listed above costs 400€+.
