It's not compatible with Z170 motherboards.

it is only compatible with the workstation&server boards, just look on pcpp

Yeah it was too good to believe,not so much more expensive than i5 and has performance like an i7. Damn it would be so good if it could work in "normal" motherbords. Thanks for helping

Previous E3 Xeons worked fine with desktop motherboards, but Intel's greediness is just endless.

However there are desktop motherboards with the said chipset like the ASUS E3 PRO GAMING.
