Greetings.

I have 2 desktop PC at my work that I want to connect to each other. Now I suppose this means I have to create (or setup?) a Local Area Network? Excuse me but I am new at this. All I know is that the 2 PC have to be connected via a cable (I am guessing ethernet?) and not be wireless (my main work software is recommending this). Also they should both be able to connect to the Internet. Now, I have a router over there so I guess I could plug them both in that, or can I just connect them directly to each other? And do I need separate networking cards?

Since I have no idea, could anyone recommend some guides of some sort that would be suitable for newbies? Thank you!

Seek and you shall find.

Just plug them into the router. They'll be on the same LAN. What do you need them to do?

Only to run the same office software, that is pretty much it

Then do they even need to be on the same network?

The software I am running is a retail sell one so if i sell something on 1 pc, the 2nd must be updated as well.

Then I think they just need to be plugged into the same router.
