Unsure what killed it, it would be pure speculation on my part or anyone in the community. All we do know is the drive is dead and there is no fixing it.

I was helping a friend of mine swap cases and after he installed the drive in his computer it just wouldn't spin!! Is it possible that this is a form of ESD damage or is it more possible that the drive was damaged through shock (by accidentally shaking his computer or something)

We even tried using a different power cable and SATA cable as well as installing the drive in a different computer...

Yes, he has an SSD for his main drive so there is no problem with Windows. The Hard Drive is for his Steam Library and for his files...

I'd say ESD is highly unlikely. While it's entirely possible that it happened, consumer electronics aren't that allergic to it these days. Most hard drives don't even have any components on the side of the PCB that you can touch. Vibration or shock are one thing. Accidentally short-circuiting something is another. Who the hell knows. Just RMA it.

No! Not even in the BIOS! This is why it's so weird!

Nah... Is isn't worth the hassle, it's a cheap drive. My friend was just hoping that he would be able to get it to spin again. I think that it is more possible that he might not have handled his disk correctly and the drive died because of that...

Yes, I tried it on my main rig with my PSU, which is surely in good shape! (Because I thougth that maybe his generic Power Supply might have been on the verge of dying)
