Hi!

So I have been wanting a new laptop, and I believe I found one that meets my expectations - Asus K501 (Affordable, Slim & Powerful).

But with it's recent new update, the laptop I want has a new Graphics card to choose  from.

My concern/question is that if the laptop would perform terribly with a better GPU? This is  because I have read that there might be a overheating problem with the 960m.

Here is the laptop with the better graphics:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834234023

https://www.amazon.com/K501UW-AB78-15-6-inch-Full-HD-Gaming-Glacier/dp/B01DT49XN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466223944&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+k501uw

And here it is originally:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232946&cm_re=Asus_k501ux-_-34-232-946-_-Product

If you gentlemen/ladies had to choose, which would you choose? (Please give reasons!)

Cheers,

- Dragcov

Wow, thanks guys!

May I ask where you got this information? I've looked through some GPU comparisons such as GPUBoss & comparing it through geforce.com.

And also, do you think the 960m would cause more heat than the 950m?

Cheers,

Dragcov

GPUBoss is cancer, GeForce.com is worse cancer. There are exactly 0 reliable benches on both. Use notebookcheck for mobile benchmarks and DigitalFoundry for desktop ones

According to notebookcheck, the 960m is about 30% faster compared to the 950m GDDR5 version.

DDR3 - the 950M GDDR5 is clocked at 1100MHz 960M GDDR5 is clocked at 1200MHz - that's a 10% difference. The GPU itself is the same across both

The test article I read clearly said GDDR5 for both.

In that case there should be next to no difference. Look up the raw specs - they are the exact same GM107 core
