I've only ever built one PC before and that was like 8 years ago, and now getting into PC gaming. Looking for some help selecting parts. The PC will be used for gaming, video editing and general tasks. I'd like it to last as long as possible. Here's my list at the moment:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/pKhwPs
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($297.99 @ B&H)
Motherboard: MSI Z170-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($109.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($34.88 @ OutletPC) (16gb seems like overkill, but maybe you can prove otherwise)
Storage: A-Data Premier SP550 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($35.33 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($65.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card  ($379.99) (one of the custom ones when they're released, gonna build in 3-4 months)
Case: Cooler Master Centurion 5 ATX Mid Tower Case (Reusing this, I don't see any benefit to a new one. I'm aware the front panel doesn't support USB 3.0 but I don't care.)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit  ($26.76) (from Kinguin)
Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM  120mm Fan  ($3.34 @ Newegg)
Total: $1004.05
